<hi style=afpcap>The BT-9 was basic training aircraft which the manufacturer wished to develop into a basic combat trainer, with a BT-9B being converted to BT-9D standard with new wing panels and tail unit, and a metal covered fuselage. Designated the BC-1, the version enjoyed a health order book with 180 examples being produced, some of which were subsequently modified for instrument training. </hi>
